This section of Land Bounty Warrants is taken from the 1913 Year Book of the Kentucky Society of the SAR and contains the names of approximately 6,075 men who served in the Revolution from Virginia. The name of the soldier or officer is given, number of acres he received, rank, department of service, i.e. Continental or State Line of Virginia of Virginia State Navy, number of years of service and the date of the Warrant. The earliest surveys of land in Kentucky taken from the 1917 Year Yearbook of the Society of Colonial Wars in Kentucky were military surveys made in Fincastle County which in 1773 comprised all of the state of Kentucky, Fayette, Jefferson, and Lincoln counties. Information contained in these surveys are the name of the person drawing the land, rank, acres surveyed, location of land often giving water courses and adjacent neighbors. These surveys begin in 1774 and continue through 1789 and contain the names of approximately 1,000 person. By combining the materials from the two books, the researcher for both Kentucky and Virginia is given a much needed new source of information on these early settlers.
