The Global Banking Law Database supplies the full text of banking laws of selected countries. Legislation may be retrieved by JURISDICTION or TOPIC.


To view or download by JURISDICTION


  •  

Click on the "View/download by JURISDICTION" button.

  •  

In the JURISDICTION box, click once on the desired jurisdiction.

  •  

Click on "GO".

  •  

The new window displays all the banking laws available for the selected jurisdiction. Scroll down to view the full search results.

  •  

The full text of each of the laws can be viewed and downloaded either in Word (DOC) or PDF (PDF) format. Click once on either “DOC” or “PDF” beside the desired law.

  •  

A separate window will open displaying the full text of the desired law in either PDF or Word format.

  •  

To view or download another law from the same country, close the new window.

  •  

To view or download from another jurisdiction, close the new window, click on the “View/download by JURISDICTION” button and repeat the above procedure.


To view or download by TOPIC for a single jurisdiction


  •  

Click on the "View/download by TOPIC" button.

  •  

In the TOPIC box, click once on the desired topic.

  •  

In the JURISDICTION(S) box, click once on the desired jurisdiction.

  •  

Click on “GO”.

  •  

A new window will open identifying the sections/articles of the laws of the selected jurisdiction relevant to the selected topic. Scroll down to view the full search results. It is also possible at this stage to view or download the full text of a law by clicking on DOC or PDF.

  •  

To view or download again, close the new window.


To compare a topic in two jurisdictions


  •  

Click on the “View/download by TOPIC” button.

  •  

In the TOPIC box, click once on the desired topic.

  •  

In the JURISDICTION(S) box, click once on the first jurisdiction, and then while holding down the CONTROL (CTRL), click once on the second jurisdiction.

  •  

Click on “GO”.

  •  

Two new windows will open identifying the sections/articles of the laws of the two selected jurisdictions relevant to the selected topic. A direct comparison between jurisdictions is now possible. Scroll down in both windows to view the full search results. It is also possible at this stage to view or download the full text of a law by clicking on DOC or PDF.

  •  

To search again, close the two new windows and repeat the above procedure.


Additional information regarding DOC and PDF formats:

PDF format – Laws downloaded in this format can be viewed only and do not facilitate search or editing capabilities. The laws can be printed as well as saved to your hard drive in this format. You will require the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the laws. It can be downloaded free of charge at: www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readermain.html

  •  

Word format – Laws downloaded in this format do facilitate search and editing capabilities. The laws can be printed as well as saved to your hard drive in this format. You will require Microsoft Word.

Browser Issue:

In case you have some error message on the internet explorer, when you run certain pages that contain Some programs in Javascipt, you may try to fix this problem by doing the following steps:

Go to Tools menu, select internet options, go to advanced tab and click on Restore default button.
