Ian Schwartz to Lead Firm’s Investment Funds Practice
McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the arrival of Ian Schwartz as a partner in the Firm’s Corporate & Transactional Practice Group in the New York office. Mr. Schwartz will be head of the Firm’s Investment Funds Practice with a focus on fund formation and a particular emphasis on the formation of private equity funds.
Mr. Schwartz comes from an AmLaw 100 firm where he counseled private fund clients in the structuring, establishment, and operation of their funds. He also has experience advising funds and their investment advisers on the legal and regulatory compliance aspects of fund formation.
“Ian’s focus on private equity investment management will be a great asset to our clients as we look to bolster the fund formation offerings within our global platform,” said Harris Siskind, global head of McDermott’s Corporate & Transactional Practice.
Mr. Schwartz has counseled clients across various industries in an array of investment strategies including buyout, real estate, infrastructure, mezzanine debt, collateral debt obligation, co-investment, and region-specific in Western Europe, India, and Asia. As such, Mr. Schwartz has served as legal counsel in numerous multibillion-dollar and middle-market private investment fund-raisings for institutional and boutique sponsors in various industries around the world.

Lutz, head of McDermott’s New York office. “Ian continues the build-out of the Firm’s corporate offerings in New York, and his particular skillset will be a great complement to the private equity momentum sparked by the recent arrival of partners Rob Goldstein, Jeremy Dickens, and Frank Steinherr.” Other recent hires in the Firm’s New York office include partners Steven Eckhaus, Rebecca Martin, Daniel Martin, and Evan Belosa.
Mr. Schwartz received his JD from Georgetown University Law Center where he served on The Georgetown Law Journal.
