Appointments Further Expand HFC’s Reach to Broader Alternative Investment Community; Will Allow HFC to Heal & Protect More Children Worldwide

New York  – Help For Children (HFC) today announced the appointment of two new members to its Global Board of Directors. Joining the HFC Board are Brett Hickey, CEO of Star Mountain Capital, and Baron Jacob, Partner at Ernst & Young (EY).

The appointments, which took place at a recent HFC Global Board meeting, further expand HFC’s efforts to broaden its reach into the larger alternative investment community to include support from the hedge funds industry as well as the private equity (PE), venture capital (VC) and real estate investment industries. To that end, HFC launched in 2018 a PE Cares chapter in New York and PE|VC Cares in San Francisco.

“The addition of Brett and Baron to the Help For Children Board is vital to the growth of our organization and to HFC’s ability to protect and heal children around the world,” said Dean Backer, Chairman of the HFC Board of Directors and Managing Director at Goldman Sachs. “We are confident that their expertise and positive energy will help reinvigorate HFC’s efforts to prevent and treat child abuse.”

Brett Hickey is the founder and chief executive officer of Star Mountain Capital, LLC and the founder and chairman of Star Mountain Charitable Foundation. Mr. Hickey has been structuring, analyzing and managing private equity, mezzanine and U.S. Government sponsored investment funds for over fifteen years. A New York City resident along with his wife Allison and their young son since 2002, Mr. Hickey is a member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO), a native of Canada, and a Canadian national gold medalist in speed skating.

A long-time supporter of HFC|Cayman, serving both as co-chair of the Committee of Hearts and a member of the Cayman Grants Committee, Baron Jacob is a partner at Ernst & Young, responsible for wealth and asset management clients in the Bahamas, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands market segment of EY’s Financial Services Organization. With more than 19 years of accounting experience, Mr. Jacob serves a variety of financial services clients including alternative investment fund managers, private equity funds, hedge funds, fund administrators, multinational banks and trust companies.
