Moore & Van Allen PLLC is pleased to announce that R. Todd Ransom has joined the firm as a member of the Financial Services team. Ransom was recently a partner at Haynes and Boone, LLP in New York City, and prior to that served as assistant general counsel at Bank of America Corp.

He is an extremely talented lawyer who is widely respected nationally in his field,” said Moore & Van Allen (MVA) Chairman Tom Mitchell. “Todd brings a unique blend of regulatory and transactional expertise to the team, with both in-house and private practice experience that will tremendously benefit our clients.”
Ransom serves as counsel to large financial institutions and energy companies, including banks, hedge funds and private equity funds, in connection with a full range of complex financing transactions.
He advises on syndicated loan transactions for borrowers, margin loans, hedge fund share loans, acquisition financing transactions, venture debt transactions, and more. Ransom also advises on margin and broker-dealer regulations, the Securities Exchange Act and the Investment Company Act. Further, Ransom is a recognized speaker and author on topics such as cross-default loans, forbearance agreement fundamentals, equity collateral and margin regulations.

Ransom earned his J.D. cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center and his B.A. from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. He is admitted to practice in New York, Pennsylvania and Texas. Practicing in North Carolina pursuant to Rule 5.5(e) of North Carolina Rules of Professional Conduct.
